Overview

FTM8ForgeIDE provides a fully-featured development environment for engineers building projects with 8-bit devices based on the 8051 instruction set in big-endian mode. Developed through Fortior’s 4-year R&D program (patent pending), this technology is entirely self-owned with zero third-party IP dependencies.

FTM8ForgeIDE provides a cross-platform compiler with advanced editing, compilation, and debugging capabilities, enhanced by a solution manager for multi-project parallel development and third-party project conversion. The compiler supports multiple data types and programming paradigms. Featuring a documentation generator for help files, a full-featured source code editor, and a debugger with multiple download options and breakpoint configurations - all presented through a customizable UI interface.

The debugging of FTM8ForgeIDE interfaces with relevant hardware and supports the ecosystem’s emulators and programmers. It is compatible with all development boards and scenarios based on 8051 command group and big-endian mode. The advanced source code editor provides code outlining and section folding for structural navigation, font scaling for customizable viewing, auto-detection and conversion of character encodings and intelligent code completion with smart autocomplete, code snippet suggestions, and real-time function parameter hints.

Powerful and Easy to Use

The powerful compiler supports multiple primitive data types, hybrid programming paradigms, diverse memory storage types, absolute address allocation for variables and functions, a unified and high-efficiency CLib interface, and embedded C/ASM debugging capabilities.

The solution manager enables concurrent development of multiple application projects, target chip modification for existing projects third-party projects conversion to FTIDE format, and advanced symbol analysis for both C and assembly code.

The integrated documentation generator facilitates rapid comment authoring and automatically produces help file in both HTML and CHM formats.

The debugger supports 3 download methods, 2 file types, up to 4 breakpoints, 8 debug actions, downloading firmware emulation debugging, real-time visualization of register values and memory content changes.

The IDE supports 4 UI theme styles, three font/icon size presets (Large/Medium/Small), full customization of frequently0used command toolbars, keyboard shortcuts, and output window properties (text color, background, font size), and built-in tcl scripting support.

Hardware requirements:
Minimum: 1.6 GHZ CPU, 384 MB RAM, 1024x768 resolution display, and 5400 RPM hard disk drive.
Recommendation: 2.2 GHZ or higher processor, 1024 MB(1 GB) RAM or greater memory, 1280x1024 resolution minimum, and 7200 RPM or faster hard drive.
